Unit Price Comparator

Compare grocery and shopping items by their price per unit — per 100 g, per liter, or per count — to instantly find the cheapest option regardless of package size.

What Are You Comparing?

Enter each item's price and package size in any unit — they're normalized automatically.

The Items

The ranking updates automatically as you type.

How It Works

1. Everything Is Normalized to One Unit

Stores price items in whatever package size is convenient for them — 340 g here, 1.5 lb there. To compare fairly, each item's price is divided by its size and scaled to a single reference unit:

  • Weight → price per 100 g
  • Volume → price per liter
  • Count → price per item
2. The Formula

Unit Price = (Price ÷ Size in base unit) × Reference amount

For example, a $4.50 bag of 340 g of coffee is (4.50 ÷ 340) × 100 = $1.32 per 100 g. A $9.00 bag of 500 g works out to $1.80 per 100 g — so the small bag is actually the better deal.

3. Finding the Cheapest

Once every item shares the same unit, the tool sorts them from cheapest to most expensive, flags the winner as Best Value, and shows how much more each alternative costs relative to it.

Tip: Mixed units are fine — ounces, pounds, grams and kilograms all convert to the same reference, so you never have to do the math yourself. Everything runs locally in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
